Dorris June Griffin

Dorris June Griffin, 87, of Greeley, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Hospice of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. She was born on June 12, 1928 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Michael and Katherine (Buderus) Daire.

Dorris graduated from Timnath High School in 1947. On November 7, 1948 she married William Griffin at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Collins.

Dorris worked as a sales clerk at H & P Surplus, Woolworth’s and Greeley Dry Goods. She also worked for Greeley/Evans School District 6 in food service.

Dorris was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Historical Society of Germans from Russia, Evans Senior Center, Kersey Senior Center and Weld County Retired Schools Employees Association. She enjoyed sewing and playing cards. She also enjoyed taking pictures at various functions. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her earlier years, she loved to roller skate, a pastime that led her to meet her husband. Dorris was also known as “Grandma Rose”.

Dorris is survived by her husband, William Griffin; daughters, Katherine Griffin and Ivy Dee-Ann Daugherty both of Greeley; sons, William Griffin II (Linda) of Greeley, Michael Griffin (Gail) of Wellington, Glenn Griffin (Dianna) of Greeley and Theo Griffin (Rose) of Greeley; brothers, Richard Daire of Washington and Duane Daire of Fort Collins; 13 grandchildren, Wesley, Tracy, Wendy, Sara, Jane, Danny, Shannan, Kate, David, Matthew, Mark, Richard and Shaun; 2 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gerald and Delbert and sister, Elizabeth.

Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Inurnment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
