I worked with Dave at Utilities for the past 9 years. The first time I met him I knew I would always remember his name, because my brother's names are Dave and Blake. I know Rae as well. I did my coaching internship with her when I was in college and both my kids went to Fort Collins High School.

Dear Mrs Blakey,
  I was so sad when I heard the news that Mr. Blakey had passed away, because, as you know, I was over visiting a lot and got to know him really well.I know that I wasn't nearly as sad and as overwhelmed as you were, though. But, alas, you are the strongest woman in spirit that I know and, somehow you'll get through it. I know that is true, and, beside you have gotten through it before. I really hope that me, you, Mary Rose, Katie, Sarah and his old wife may see him again, soon, not too soon though because I know he wants us to move on and live a full, great life and not greive over this one thing. But somehow, also, he is with us in heart and in spirit, I can feel it. you are a special woman and God had a reason for him leaving us and even though we may not understand, it's his plan, and if we knew his plan, we would try and prevent it and it wouldn't be his plan any more. You are a strong woman in heart and in spirit. God may not have wanted you to be grieving so much, but he knows how much it hurts you and he wants you to move on, also. You WILL get through this because I can feel that that's in God's plan for your future. But, I think and hope that he is up there with his father looking down on us and praying that we get through this. And I'll help you because that's what friends are for. Wow, there is just so much I could say about him. First of all, he is funny, nice, sweet and caring. And while he's up there, looking down at us, he is very mad because he is not down here helping and protecting you. He loved you dearly that if you were there in that car with Rayenne and moulder and him, and if he saw that tow truck, he would've done anything in his power to get you and Rayenne out of there before he even thought about saving himself. I just don't think it's fair to any of us, but, it's in God's plan and we just have to go with it, no matter how sad it may be. We are so lucky to have Rayenne here with us, though. At least one of them held on strong. And if it was Rayenne that's life had been taken, we would both be grieving just as much as we are now. Even though I am only 11 years old and don't know much, I know how you feel and that just makes me want to be with you every second. You are an extremely thoughtful and strong woman, it is only God's way and we cannot be mad at him for that. The only things to do are Forgive, love and forget, but don't forget completely, because we don't want to forget how much of a kind person he was and how many lives he saved. I'm sure that even if they didn't even know him at all they are extremely grateful. I love you with all my heart and soul and spirit and I will help you through it.

  I have not met any of you but have heard Dave talk about you and I heard the pride and love in his voice as he spoke of you.  I work the Meter School at CSU and remember how Dave tried to get the dates moved - because his girls had Spring Break at the same time.  He also chose to miss Meter School a time or two, just so he could go on vacation with his family.  Upon hearing of his death, the first thought I had was that knowing he was a Christian made it a little easier to accept.  Praise God for His neverending love and His promise of a Resurrection Morning when we will all meet again in Heaven.
