Charles Adams Wilson was born on January 27, 1953 in Charleston, WV to Howard and Suzanne (Adams) Wilson. He served in the US Army for 6 years as a Ranger, Paratrooper, and Distinguished Marksman. He was an officer for the LAPD for 11 years, and later became a respected member of the Loveland Police Department from 1994 to his retirement in 2014. He earned a Medal of Valor in 2003 and was one of the oldest SWAT team members in the state of Colorado.
Charlie died unexpectedly on August 6, 2016 participating in his favorite pastime: cycling. He is survived by his daughter Laura (Brad) Boots of Loveland; his wife, Patricia Wilson of Loveland; his stepdaughters Christine (Jeremy) Busch of Loveland; Laura (Paul) Spence-Newhouse of Pasadena, CA; siblings Stef Lewis, Chris Vitamanti, Jane Cunningham, and Joe & Paul Wilson. “Bompa” is dearly missed by his six treasured grandchildren Blaire & Brayden Boots, Vivian Newhouse, and Isabelle, Jordan & Madeline Busch. He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Suzanne Wilson.
Charlie was larger than life and had a heart to match. He was a voracious reader and a man of many talents: cooking, winemaking, watch repair, crafting bows & arrows, knives and fly rods. He had many interests: cycling, skiing, fly fishing, archery, and horticulture, yet his greatest joy in life was his family.
A celebration of Charlie’s life and service will be held Monday, August 15th, at 10am at the First Christian Church in Loveland. Interment at Loveland Burial Park followed by a reception. Go to www.allnutt.com to sign the guestbook and send condolences. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Charlie Wilson Memorial Bike Fund, which will use 100% of its proceeds to furnish bikes for underprivileged individuals in Loveland. Donations can be made at www.gofundme.com/CWbikememorial.
