Charlene Gayle Anderson passed away peacefully at home on the fourteenth of February 2023 after a long and difficult battle with cancer. A true fighter, she was optimistic and determined to beat the disease to the end, never giving up.
Char was born in Sonora California in 1956 and grew up in many different locations throughout the western US and in Brazil, as her father worked hydro-dam construction with Morrison Knudsen and the entire family followed along from site to site. She graduated from South Fremont High School in St Anthony Idaho in 1974 and then went on to Idaho State University majoring in Communications. There she met her husband, Norm Anderson. They were married in Denver Colorado in 1978 and Char continued with her nomadic lifestyle, living in Denver, Houston, Chicago, Buenos Aires Argentina, Santa Cruz de la Sierra Bolivia, Rio de Janeiro Brazil, Carbondale Colorado, and finally landing in Greeley Colorado.
Char was an avid crafter and loved teaching other people how to do a variety of arts and crafts. She was a talented quilter with several large and beautiful quilts made for family and friends. Char was also a voracious reader of different genres of books, although her favorites were the many mysteries that she enjoyed.
Char always viewed her roles as mother and grandmother as job one. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them.
Char is survived by her husband Norm Anderson, her son Jacob Anderson, her daughter Hilary Clement, her son-in-law Joshua Clement and her two beautiful granddaughters, Dakota and Paxton Clement. She is also survived by her sister Bonnie Stotland and brothers-in-law Duane Stotland and Craig Anderson
Char is preceded in death by her father Roy Cline, her mother Alvera Cline, her sister Margaret Thompson, and her brother Ron Cline.
At Char’s request no formal service will be held. Her family will scatter her ashes at a later date. In the absence of a service please remember Char the next time you are at a craft fair or see an intricate hand-made quilt. No flowers please. If you wish, a donation to the American Cancer Society is appreciated
