Cathy McLaughlin

Cathy was raised in Platteville, on a farm with cattle, sugar beets and other vegetables. She graduated from Valley High School in Gilcrest and worked as an insurance underwriter, in merchandising and was self-employed developing software for websites. She also was her mother’s care taker.

In 1980, Cathy married Gary McLaughlin in Amarillo, Texas. Cathy and Gary had their daughter, Melissa in 1981. They divorced after 27 years of marriage. She then met Gary Chase and has dated him for the last eight years.

Cathy was raised in the Baptist/Methodist faith. She was a member of the Lion’s Club in Platteville and the Evans Chamber of Commerce.

Cathy was very giving and loved to make people smile. She loved horses, needlework and collecting frogs, lighthouses, angels and Minions.

Cathy is survived by her boyfriend, Gary Chase; her daughter, Melissa (Lucas) Saurini; Melissa’s father, Gary McLaughlin; mother, Miriam Hibbs; sister, Janet (Sam) McKinney and two grandchildren, Aliyah and Logan Saurini.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Rowena McKinney.

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 316 Elizabeth Avenue, Platteville.
