Carolyn Maureen Martin, 67, of Greeley, died May 23, 2013 at North Colorado Medical Center. She was born November 20, 1945 in Lyons, Nebraska to Carl and Carrie (Nelson) Dennis. She grew up in Lyons until the family moved to Greeley in 1957. She graduated from Greeley High in 1963.
Carolyn married Dean Martin on June 4, 1966 at the First United Presbyterian Church by Reverend Tom Ewing.
Carolyn went to work for State Farm at the regional office in 1963. She then worked as a secretary at the First United Presbyterian Church where she was a member. Carolyn was a homemaker before returning to work at the Pathology Department at Weld County General Hospital now North Colorado Medical Center. She then returned to State Farm regional office and retired June 1, 2012 after 31 years with them.
Carolyn helped her husband with their farming operation. She loved to sew and collecting antiques and taking care of their home. Carolyn and Dean loved to travel, especially to Arizona, the Black Hills of South Dakota and to Utah. She also enjoyed bicycle riding. Above all she enjoyed the time spent with her family. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to everyone she met. Her faith in God was amazing and the world will not be the same without her.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Dean; daughter Christy Purcell (Ed) of Eaton; son Cory Martin of Eaton; sister Carmen Oster of Lochbuie; brother Dr. Ervin A Dennis (LaVada) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one aunt Zella Cole of Surprise, Arizona; three grandchildren Todd Curtis of Greeley, Natalie Purcell of Eaton and Crosby Martin of Eaton; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Eugene Dennis and one young sister Connie Dennis.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 31 at First United Presbyterian Church. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
