I just found out my dear friend Candy had passed away last year.  I am so upset and sad that I will never see her again and now I know why I could not get through on her phone early this year whilst we were living in Laramie, Wyoming for the year.   I drove past her old house in Commanche Drive and the memories flooded in.   
I met Candy in Steamboat Springs winter of 1990, and we became instant friends.  We kept in touch between Australia and Wyoming until I came to ski in 1995 and she joined me in Steamboat, with her brace and courage we skied together.   Her only instruction was she would ski with me if I came back to a 'real Wyoming town and not a ski resort'.  I said I would love that and I stayed with her in Laramie and she introduced me to my husband Kory.   5 months later she organized my wedding at the Cowboy Saloon, and what a grand job she did.   She also did a wonderful video of our wedding.   We last saw her in Fort Collins in 2004 and not since - this saddens me terribly.   A wonderful woman, mother, grandmother and friend to all.    your friend forever Helen.

Dear Laura, Tricia and Scott - just to say I'm thinking of you as this time draws near. In the last months, I've re-read so many of her emails to me, through which her love of life and family just glows. I know she is out there somewhere, keeping you all close to her heart, as you are her. Me too. Love from Gail

We have so many fond and fun memories of Candy. We never spent a dull day in Candy's company: of that I think we can all be sure. Candy was my first friend when I moved to Laramie. Through her I met half of the town, something lots of other people can say, too. Ron and I wish you good memories and peace moving forward.

I am wishing you peace and strength as you adjust to life now.  I want you all to know that your mom treated me so kindly, like a second mother to me.  I appreciated her care through the years and she will be greatly missed!

Laura - I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom.  Having also lost my mom far too early, I can only tell you that the pain will eventually ease but the memories and life lessons will last forever.  And yes, we DO start looking like our moms!

Candy and I have been friends for so many years that it's hard to recall how long--from Red Cross days in Laramie.  Somehow I always thought she was a whole lot younger than me--which says a lot about her sparkling personality.  I saw her through some pretty tough times, and I think I was one of the first out of the family that she told about her illness.  I hadn't heard from her for awhile, and I'm saddened that she couldn't beat this damnable disease.  Please accept my sympathy, kids.  Candy was a remarkable woman, and I'll miss her.  Had I known about the memorial service before today (June 3rd), I would have been there.

I wish I could be there today with you. Laura told me the sad news, but I'm unable to make it to Fort Collins. 

I'll never forget our trip to the hot air balloon launches. Your mother was so energetic and beautiful. She was full of quiet grace -- just like the balloons we admired.

Hello, Laura & family! I??Tm Susan Tucker Cady, your mother??Ts cousin who lives in Suttons Bay, MI. Judy and I remember fondly Candy??Ts visit with her dog late September & early October 2005. She said she missed her long hair, but felt positive about her fight against breast cancer. She told us all about you 3 kids and your children! We traded stories about growing up and her childhood in Glen Ellyn with her parents Ed & Carol. We laughed about our visit to her class reunion. The first weekend we went with our mother, it was the wrong weekend! (Maybe my ??~ditzyness??T runs in the family!) Please remember us to her sister Patti, whom we??Tve lost touch with. Judy and I have no other family on our side. We remember Mom and Dad telling us of your visit to Florida when you kids were younger and how your father loved Nana Tucker??Ts mashed potatoes! We always looked forward to hearing from Candy at Christmas. Her letters had us in stitches! One year when you lived in Wyoming, she sent me a VHS of winter survival tips which I used in my classroom! Please know that you and your family are always welcome to visit us in Michigan. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is spectacular! Please share this with your Tricia & Scott. You are all in our thoughts & prayers! We??Tll be with you in spirit.
