Dear Jill, Kayla, Conor and Extended Family,
Dr. Cook was a professor emeritus when I attended Colorado State as a range management student, and I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to take one full class from him. On several occasions, Dr. Cook also guest lectured. I say this loosely, because I don't believe I ever heard a lecture from Dr. Cook. But I learned an awful lot of Range Management from his stories. I looked forward to every class.  One needed only to imagine a comfortable backrest of a well worn saddle and the warmth of a fire as we students were treated to Dr. Cook's tales of the range more as if we were ranch hands on the spring round-up than students taking notes in a lecture hall. Dr. Cook and his stories impassioned me about the field,  and I, along with many others, learned without even trying.  We will miss him.  May God bless and comfort you all.

I had the privilege of being introduced to the art and science of range management by Dr. Cook. His down to earth, practical approach to this great profession will be sorely missed.

He was a dedicated servant and steward of our rangelands and through his efforts he left the world of natural resources better than he found them.

Dr. Cook was not my major professor at Utah State, but he has been a mentor throughout my professional and personal career.  His life set the standard for being a scientist, a teacher, an advisor, a husband, and a Christian.  May you and Eula rest in peace.  We will remember and miss you.

My dear sweet Uncle Wayne, I love you so much.  You are a true gentleman in all senses of the word.  Thank you so much for always being so kind and loving to our dear sweet Eula, a wonderful lady you called your bride of 65 years.  When your best friend and brother in-law was in the hospital in Scott City, Kansas, you and dear Aunt Eula made the trip from Fort Collins to visit nearly every two weeks.  I will always remember your kindness, generosity and thoughtful consideration.  Your 53rd wedding anniversary was the day of Dad's funeral.  You were my ""second Dad"".  I miss you so much already.  I am so glad you are rejoined with your dear sweet Eula and son Randy in Our Lord's Heavenly Home.  Much Love, from your youngest niece....Kristi

I was one of his graduate students at CSU. Dr. Cook was a leader, pioneer, and a pillar in the field of Range Science, but his greatest talent was in how he treated people.  He had a great impact on my life - he did this by having confidence in me at a time when I had little confidence in myself.  May he rest in peace - he earned it and he deserves it.

Dr. Cook was everything a college student could hope for in a professor and teacher, able to to polish his considerable expertise with real world experience taught  in a matter-of-fact, easily understood fashion and delivered with generous doses of his homey and ever-present sense of humor.  His memory will always be that of the excellent teacher and all-around good fellow.  May God's peace be with all his family.

My Great Uncle Wayne.  He will be greatly missed but has found peace again by Eula's side.  As a child and teenager, I was always drawn to Wayne & Eula to hear their witty stories.  As an adult, I admired his work and integrity.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.  It is amazing to read about the many lives he touched.

Dr. C. Wayne Cook was a giant in the field of range management.  He will be sorely missed by those of us who knew and loved him.  Dr. Cook was on my committee at USU in 1967-70.  He was the only initial member of my committee who was present at my final exam.  He defended me to 4 other substitute members of my committee who knew very little about me, my coursework, or my research.  He had faith in me when none of the others did.  I feel that he was the reason I passed my final.  He meant a great deal to me & my professional life.  I am proud to call him my mentor & friend; and, am proud to have known him in his heyday.
