Betty Louise Reiter, 90, of Platteville, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Hospice of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. Betty was born on July 20, 1924 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lester and Ethel (Hewitt) Ozbun.
When Betty was growing up, she lived in many different places, as her father’s job with the oil and gas (pipeline) industry took them several places. After she met Earl, they settled in Platteville in 1973.
On July 3, 1974, she married Earl Reiter in Platteville. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Platteville.
Betty was a professional seamstress. She and her daughter, Jannett, also ran a catering business, “B & J Catering”.
Betty was extremely creative. She loved painting; landscapes, mountains, Indian pottery and still life. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening, and working along side her daughter in their business.
Betty is survived by her husband, Earl; daughter, Jannett Hayes of Greeley; son, Bobby Lee Hayes (Robin) of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, Gary “Butch” Ozbun; six grandchildren, Bill Woods, Robert Hayes, Rileah Hayes, Wilson Parker Hayes, Shonna Summers and Donna Hayes; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Carolyn Phillips, son, Donald Hayes and brother, Herb Ozbun.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at United Methodist Church in Platteville. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
