Betty Jean McCarthy

Betty Jean McCarthy August 16, 1935 ~ July 19, 2011 Betty Jean McCarthy of La Salle died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born August 16, 1935 in La Salle Colorado to Elizabeth (Linker) and Oswald "Oscar" Rohn, Sr. Betty was raised and attended school in La Salle. Betty was baptized on October 6, 1935 and later confirmed on April 2, 1950.

On December 30, 1953 Betty married Doyle McCarthy in Greeley. Betty was an Avon representative for 45 years. Betty was an excellent wife, mother and cook. She enjoyed playing cards collecting antiques and taking trips to Black Hawk with her husband Doyle. Betty loved traveling of any type, and had visited 49 states during her travels. Betty was kind and generous, she loved to laugh and always had a twinkle in her eye.

She is survived by her husband Doyle McCarthy; daughter Debbie Gaskill (Randy) of Greeley; three sons Mick McCarthy (Elise) of LaSalle, Jim McCarthy (Jodi) of LaSalle, and Tom McCarthy (Jill) of Greeley; grandchildren Jonathan McCarthy of Loveland, Heather McCarthy of Greeley, Raelene McCarthy of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Kourtney McCarthy of Greeley; sister Frieda Dilka (Cliff) of Kersey; three brothers Reinholdt Rohn (Marge) of Greeley, Harry Rohn of Ault and Donald Rohn (Betty) of Ault. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Sterling; sisters Lydia Bernhardt, Esther Reichert and Elsie Reichert; brothers Oscar Rohn, Jr., and Frederick Rohn.

Visitation 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday at St. Johns United Church of Christ. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery.
