Barbara Alaine Burns, 89, of Greeley, died April 21, 2012 at her home. She was born September 1, 1922 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Archibald Nathaniel and Helen (Griffith) Sheffield. Barbara grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. She later attended a business college.
Barbara and her family moved to Greeley in 1968. She worked for a car dealership in accounting. She then worked for the Weld County Clerk and Recorder in the Motor Vehicle Department, and later transferred to Human Services where she worked in accounting. Barbara was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling and was in bowling leagues for many years.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Kim Dove of Greeley, Lisa Sheffield of Seattle, Washington; sons Clinton Dove of Las Vegas, Nevada and Greg Dove (Michelle) of Battle Creek, Michigan; grandchildren Theresa Dove of Greeley, Lina Maki and Charlie Maki of Seattle, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Burns.
Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, at Stoddard Funeral Home, followed by Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
