Amelia "Millie" Gomez Quintanar, 88, of San Lorenzo, New Mexico, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheatridge, Colorado. Amelia was born May 2, 1932 in San Lorenzo, New Mexico to Bartolo Molina and Juanita Gomez.
After graduating from St. Mary’s Academy, Silver City, New Mexico, She married Julian P. Quintanar on May 20, 1954 in Silver City, New Mexico, a marriage of sixty-seven years that brought 5 children, 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
As a homemaker Amelia was very involved with her close knit family. She enjoyed crocheting afghan blankets for every new born baby, and all kinds of crafting. She enjoyed her sports teams – the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. She loved to dance with her grandbabies and holding her great-grandbabies.
She loved and prayed for her entire family and always spoke of them with joy in her heart. Her Catholic upbringing and spiritual belief was the catalyst of the family. She will be greatly missed, but she will always remain in our hearts.
Amelia is survived by her sons Hector (Lisa) Quintanar, Michael (Leticia) Quintanar; daughters Alice Cothran, Margaret (Melicio II) Chavez and Betty Jo Castro; brother Ernesto (Pauline) Gomez; grandchildren Aaron, Zachary, Nathaniel, Kendra, Paul, Crystal, Melissa, Monica, Melicio III, Mario, Nicole, Tasha, Heather, Alfredo III, Michelle, Tania, Isaac and Israel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Julian; son in law Jim Cothran; great grandson Cameron Allen; brothers Eloy Gomez and Manuel Gomez; sisters Helen Placencio and Lupe Phillips.
