Born March 25, 1937, Denver, Colorado, adopted by the Late Ruth J (Talbott) Brown and Dow A. Brown of Longmont. At the age of 3, her family moved to Greeley where her father ran a home bakery and her mother ran a home grocery at 1500 14th Avenue known as Brown’s Bakery. Mrs. Paddock learned at an early age to work in the bakery and always loved making the rounds with her father and older brother, Bob, delivering the wonderful delicacies to businesses and homes.
She attended Cameron Elementary school and later the Adventist schools, graduating from Campion Academy in 1954. She attended Greeley High School in 1952 and 1953, the year that her mother passed. Mrs. Paddock was always active in the musical field playing piano from the age of 4 and violin at 6, which eventually led to playing with the Junior Philharmonic Orchestra. She also played the French horn, organ and she had a beautiful singing voice. Music remained important to her throughout her life.
Mrs. Paddock took nursing courses at the Boulder Sanitarium and worked there for two summers before moving to Denver to work for Porter Memorial Hospital. She also worked at the Navajo Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Boulder, The Credit Bureau of Weld County for several years and for the Chamber of Commerce as secretary to the manager. At this time she was married to Morris Allison and they adopted two children, Brett & Traci. While raising her children she became a licensed Day Care Provider in her home, caring for many children over 23 years in Greeley. After divorcing, Alyce rekindled an old romance with her long time friend and love of her life, Stanley Paddock. Their families had been longtime friends since she was about 3 years old, and Stan & Alyce dated in high school. After many years of companionship, they married in 1999. She became the secretary for his business, Paddock Auto Repair. She loved her “blended” family and enjoyed being with them on special occasions and holidays. She loved to travel and see the beauty of the world around her. She and Stan were inseparable in the last many years of her life. They volunteered together at NCMC in the Cancer Center.
She is survived by her best friend, and husband, Stanley Paddock; two brothers and their spouses, Bob & Jean Brown of Kersey, and Willard &Mary Pat Britt of Boulder. Children and their spouses, Brett & Chrissy Allison of Berthoud, Traci & Eric Hess of Fort Collins, Cindy & Bill Patten of Powell, WY; Rex and Shelley Paddock of Eaton, and Barb & Claude Garcia of Greeley. Grandchildren and their spouses: Evan Hess, Connor Hess, Ashley Jenkins, Billy & Angie Patten, Steven & Tara Patten, Cody Simonton, Chance Simonton, Tony Ball, and Demi Ball, and her “second” daughter, Carrie Endres and husband, Zach.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth & Dow Brown, step mother, Merle Hallock Britt Brown, and granddaughter, Brittany Ann Allison.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2013, at the Allnutt Macy Chapel, 702 13th Street, Greeley, with reception to follow upstairs in Allnutt Reception Center.
