He was born to Wilhelm and Mathilde (Damrau) Rosin on July 11, 1943, in Mahlen East Germany. Adolf was one of nine children that emigrated with his mother Mathilde from West Germany to America in 1952. A brother, Arnold and his family would join them in America later. Upon their arrival in America, the family came to farm for three brothers, in Milliken Colorado, who sponsored the ten of them.
Adolf would attend school in Milliken until moving to Greeley in 1954. He attended his remaining years of middle school at Meeker Junior High School and went on to graduate from Greeley High School in 1963. After graduation, Adolf worked as a custodian for the city of Greeley until being drafted in the U.S. Army in February of 1967.
He went to Basic Training at Ft. Bliss Texas and then was assigned to Advanced Individual Training(AIT) at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. Adolf was then given orders to go to Camp Price Support Center in Granite City, Illinois. His last post before being sent to Vietnam was at Ft. Lewis Washington. Adolf made three stops in Vietnam, the first at Saigon, followed by Bien Hoa and finally Long Binh where he finished his tour in Vietnam and was assigned to the 90th Replacement Battalion. Adolf was awarded medals from his tour including the Army Valorous Unit Award (a decoration given to US Army units that demonstrated extraordinary heroism in combat. It is the second highest award a unit could receive in the Army).
When Adolf returned from Vietnam to Greeley in 1969, he began working for his brother Reinhard's painting business. Adolf painted with his brothers Reinhard and Henry until his retirement in 2008.
Adolf was a lifelong and faithful member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greeley where many of his siblings and their families attended also. The Rosin brothers lent their painting expertise to the church's sanctuary and other areas of the church on more than one occasion.
Adolf had a talent for playing a six-sided Tremolo harmonica with his brothers at a yearly German Christmas song fest that was a favorite tradition of the Rosin family, church members and even extended to German community members who just enjoyed Christmas music of their heritage.
Adolf was an avid bowler over the years. He bowled on church leagues and with teams formed under Rosin Painting, his brother's painting business. He loved doing puzzles, many of which he put together and had them framed for family. He loved watching westerns- John Wayne movies were his favorite. He also was a collector of National Geographic books, magazines and movies. History fascinated him and he loved learning about anything American including National Monuments, Presidents, the states and currency. He also enjoyed learning about the many places beyond our borders. Adolf was a big fan of the Denver Broncos. He rarely missed watching a game that was televised.
Adolf's family was especially important and dear to him. He never missed family celebrations whether that was a gathering for picnics, weddings, graduations or even baptisms. He had a smile that lit up a room and was kind to everyone. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Adolf is survived by two brothers, Henry (Emma), and Ewald of Greeley, 11 nephews and 9 nieces and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as siblings Frieda (Arthur) Wuest, Arnold (Berta) Reinhard (Freida), Leonard (Marjorie), Helmut (Helene), Margaret (Horst) Foerster, Irma (Fritz) Schliewack and nephew Arnold Schliewack.
