(April 22, 1939 - March 31, 2025)
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Judith Sugar Kane Platt (Judy), who passed away on March 31, 2025, at the age of 85. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Her unwavering commitment to her family and deep devotion to her husband, Albert Platt, defined her life.
Born on April 22, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY, Judy grew up with a strong sense of family and community. She attended Syracuse University and went on to work as a speech pathologist, making a lasting impact on the lives of those she helped. However, her greatest priority was always her family.
On April 8, 1962, Judy married Albert Platt, and together they shared nearly 63 years of a wonderful marriage. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them, marked by mutual respect and unwavering support. Judy’s dedication to Albert was the cornerstone of their enduring relationship.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Judy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband, Albert; their two children, Ira and Michael, along with their wives Georgiana and Allison; respectively, and her four grandchildren, Benjamin, Jeremy, Dylan and Jordan who were the lights of her life. Her family meant everything to her, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Judy was a breast cancer survivor who, after her own battle with the disease, dedicated herself to helping others through her work with the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Program. She volunteered for many years on their hotline, offering support and counsel to women facing similar challenges, always with grace and compassion.
An avid reader, passionate tennis player, and skilled card player, Judy's selflessness, warmth, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3rd, at 1:00 p.m. at the Riverside-Nassau North Chapel, located at 55 North Station Plaza, Great Neck, NY.
The family will sit shiva Thursday through Sunday at the home of Michael & Allison Platt, 77 Ivy Way, Port Washington, NY. A separate shiva will be held Sunday at the home of Ira & Georgiana Platt, 65 Sturges Hwy, Westport, CT, starting at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Judy’s memory.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported them during this time.
