
Anne Estrin Maurer, DSW, 94, died November 5, 2015. A graduate of Swarthmore College, Columbia University School of Social Work, and Adelphi University, she had a long and impactful career as a clinical social worker, first at the Jewish Board of Governors, and then, for many years, as Director of Social Work at Lifeline Center for Child Development in Queens, NY. She devoted her life and career to helping children and families cope with social and emotional struggles. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, she was predeceased by loving husband Murray L. Maurer and sister Lucy Kavaler, and is survived by daughters Nancy Maurer (Bruce Bell), Janet Maurer (James Goldstein), Kathy Maurer (Mitchell Fox), by grandchildren Molly, Samantha, and Megan Fox, Kate and Laura Goldstein, and Matthew, Daniel, and Thomas Bell, and by nieces and nephews Andrea and Roger Kavaler, Abigail, Jonathan, and Jeremy Freedman, and Dale and Jill Gordon. Funeral services on Sunday November 8, 2015 at 10AM at Riverside-Nassau North Chapels, 55 North Station Plaza (Opposite LIRR), Great Neck, NY.
