Born on December 18, 1934, in Hartselle, Alabama, Doug lived a life defined by service—to his faith, his country, his friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Affectionately known as “Doug,” “Grumpy,” and “Mr. Hendrix,” he was cherished for his jovial nature, his loyalty, and his steady presence in the lives of those around him.
Doug proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant after serving his country in two wars. He was deeply proud of his military service and found strength and peace in his unwavering faith in Christ Jesus.
A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 9:15 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. Attendees are asked to arrive by 9:00 a.m. and assemble in Lane 2.
