SARAH KATHRYN LACY, 17, of Southlake, TX, was taken from us on January 8th, 2020 as a result of a tragic pedestrian car accident. Sarah is the daughter of James and Julie, and the beloved sister of Zach Lacy (15). Sarah was born on March 1st, 2002, in Atlanta, GA and moved with her family to Southlake in 2010.
Sarah was a bright ray of sunshine everywhere she went. She loved Jesus and her relationship with God grew through her many summers at Pine Cove, one of her favorite places. Her light shone through in her passions – her love for theater, music, and art, her love of school, her love of friends and family, and especially her love for her brother.
Sarah had a passion for theater and was heavily involved in the Carroll High School theatre department. Not only did she sing, act, dance, create sets and costumes, but this year, as the president of the thespian troupe, she took great pride leading her troupe mates – she was passionate about the projects they worked on and strove to include everyone in the troupe. We are so proud of her contributions, as over her short life she participated in 25 school and local productions, she was recognized for her playwriting as a finalist in the Circle Theater’s High School Playwriting Project, she was nominated for her work on costume design for a Column Award, and she advanced to the state level for UIL Technical Design. She loved to work with her friends to create beautiful and fun plays.
Sarah loved to sing and loved being part of the Carroll Choir. She had a passion for music and piano and expressed herself through music. We are so proud of how she wanted to serve the program as the equipment manager on the Choir Board this year. She wanted to share her ideas for this year’s Pop Show because she adored choir and wanted it to be beautiful and fun.
Sarah was a bright student and loved to learn from a very early age. She was a voracious reader and excelled in school. She was recognized as a member of the National Honors Society, a National Merit Commended Scholar, a Success Scholar, and recognized as an AP Scholar with Honors. She loved puzzles and games, was fiercely competitive, and had an amazing mind.
Sarah is survived by parents, Julie and James, brother Zach, grandparents, Richard and Sandra Moltz of Roswell, Georgia, Jim and Linda Lacy of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In many ways, she was the best of us, and she leaves a hole in our hearts that cannot be replaced.
