GAHL, ROBERT (Bob) A. Born in Milwaukee, WI on May 9, 1933, award-winning sculptor, graphic artist and architect, civil engineer, meteorologist, licensed general contractor, certified land planner and certified catechist with degrees from the Univ. of Notre Dame and Penn State Univ., was an Air Force Captain and project architect on the Dallas Infomart.
As president of the Lake Michigan Region Planning Council, he testified before the U.S. Congress regarding the Indiana Dunes National Lake shore. He was Chief Building Official of the cities of Scottsdale, AZ and Dallas. Over the years he designed and built thousands of military houses across the country.
He was a consultant to Penney’s, Kohl’s, IBM, Motorola, Intel, U.S, Dept. of Energy and Defense, Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and the U. S. Postal Service. He had personal contact with Pope St John Paul II. He was very active in his local Catholic parish, taught CCD, past president of Holy Name Society and the leader in the founding of several Catholic schools in WI, NM and TX.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ann, whom he met in the 5th grade. Daughters, Ellen Thomas (Bill) and Luanne Graham (Dave), both of Euless, TX, and son Fr. Robert Gahl, Jr. PhD of Rome, Italy, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and his sister, Dorothy Hubmann of Milwaukee, WI.
Rosary will be at 6:00pm, Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Foust and Son Funeral Home followed by Mass at 6:30pm and visitation until 8pm.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00am, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3713 E. Harwood Rd, Bedford, TX 76021.
Interment will be 9:30am, Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211
