Marty was born in New York City and served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
Marty was a long time employee of American Airlines for over 40 years and began his career as a baggage handler and worked his way up the ranks retiring as Vice President of Operations for AMR Services, a ground handling subsidiary of American Airlines. He started in New York and worked at both LGA and JFK airports. He was promoted to American's Headquarters in Manhattan NY as an Analyst for Ramp Services Operations. From there he was promoted to Boston as Manager Freight Service / Operations, then to Washington's Reagan Airport as Manager Ramp Services and then to Newark Airport as General Manager of American Airlines Airport Customer Service and Operations with coverage of JFK and numerous other cities in between.
In the early to mid 1980's American Airlines saw a growth and business opportunity to handle Passenger, Ramp and Cargo operations for other airlines and created AMR Services. Known as a Manager with excellent operational knowledge, strong people skills and the reputation for being able to turn an operation around, the new leadership at AMR Services promoted Marty to Vice President of System Operations, a post he held until his retirement.
Marty lived a rich and fruitful life. He loved and adorned his children Debra and Scott. It goes without saying that he especially loved and adored his grandchildren. Family meant everything to Marty and so did friends. He was a loyal and compassionate friend. He could take a joke and give it back, all with a smile and a gleam in his eye. He was also a great mentor to those employees who were fortunate enough to have worked for and with him.
For years Marty played and excelled at Tennis. Then in retirement he took up what was to become his Sports love - golf. It wasn't unusual to hear of or see pictures of Marty playing in Colorado, Arizona, California, Florida or Texas Golf courses as well as many other USA courses. He didn't limit his play to the USA. Pictures of Marty playing in Scotland at St Andrews are all out there as well.
Marty was preceded in death by his Mother Ida and Father Isadore Streicher and Brothers Aaron and Sanford Streicher. Marty also leaves behind his son in law James Sparacino and granddaughter Gianna Sparacino, daughter in law Rachel Streicher and granddaughter Sophia Streicher, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, Brother and Sister in Laws.
There are many men in this world that can be called a father but it takes a special kind of man to be called a Dad. Marty was the true sense of the word Dad, Grandfather and Friend. He will be missed but NEVER EVER forgotten. Rest In Peace our HERO.
