Jack was born on February 16, 1931 in River Forest Illinois to Frank and Estelle (Curran) Impens. He graduated from Purdue University in 1953 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and then served in the army as a 1st Lieutenant for a little more than 2 years. Jack married the love of his life, Pat, in September 1966 and they started a family and resided in LaGrange Park, IL. Jack had a wonderful 32-year career with General Electric as a manufacturing engineer.
After his retirement, Jack and Pat spent many beautiful winters in Florida enjoying golf, bocce, beaches and dinners with good friends. Jack will always be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit and devotion to his wife of 53 years and 2 children.
Jack is survived by his wife Patricia (Putz) Impens, daughter Gail (Impens) Gnatovic and husband Mark; grandchildren Michael, Kyle and Grace Gnatovic; daughter-in-law Heather (Bradley) Impens and grandsons Schuyler and Jack Impens. Jack was preceded in death by his son John Matthew Impens and infant son Paul Joseph Impens; brother William Impens and sister Jane (Impens) Shepstone.
A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or Misericordia (www.misericordia.com) in memory of Jack are suggested.
