Joe Tarver, 81, of Grapevine, passed away June 28, 2014 at his home. He was born November 27, 1932 in Stephenville, Texas, the son of Dave and Marie Tarver. At the age of 17, Joe joined the Navy, serving 3 1/2 years on the USS Mispillion. He enjoyed visiting with his shipmates at their annual reunions. Joe retired from GTE and ROLM. After retiring he worked at the Information Booth at the Grapevine Mills Mall and then for Security. He was a Volunteer Grapevine Fireman in the 60's and 70's and also coached Little League Baseball. He was a longtime member of the Grapevine Church of Christ and a member of the Grapevine Historical Society. He enjoyed metal detecting and looking for treasures along the beaches of area lakes. He and his wife Clara were avid antique collectors, visiting flea markets and estate sales. He was a big Texas Longhorn fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Billy, Charles and Jimmy. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Clara; son, Terry of Grapevine and daughter Jan Buntin and husband Patrick of Colleyville; sisters, Sue Webb of Stephenville and Donnie Marine and husband Donald also of Stephenville; five grandchildren, Heather Perkins and husband Troy, Aaron Atkinson and wife Billie, Jason Tarver and wife Jenn, Jonathan Tarver and wife Chelsey, Bo Tarver and wife Jamie; great-grandfather to ten; A forever heartfelt thanks to ENVOY Hospice team for their wornderful loving care. Visitation will be held Monday at 1pm at the Grapevine Church of Christ. Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the church. Interment will be at Grapevine Cemetery.
