Jessie Carolynn Wells

Jessie Carolynn Wells of Burleson died on November 28, 2018 from respiratory failure following a cardiac arrest at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Interment will be at Blue Bonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville per Carolynn’s chosen arrangements.

Carolynn, as she was affectionately referred to by family and close friends, was born on May 20, 1936 in Olney, Texas to Raymond L. Jones and Edna Coreen Powell who both preceded her in death.

She was raised and educated in Fort Worth with her brother Jerry graduating from Birdville High and later graduating from NTSU in Denton with a degree in Home Economics. She later attended University of Colorado at Denver in the 1990s completing courses in Business Administration.

Carolynn was married to Harlon V. Wells on Jun 28, 1958 in Richland Hills, Texas where his service in the Air Force took them to England where their son Gavin was born in 1961. The family returned to Fort Worth where their son Gordon was born in 1964. The family moved to Denver in the mid 1960’s where their daughter Lori was born in 1968 and they later resided in Sedalia for many years. She lived in Highlands Ranch until 2004 when she chose to return to Texas making her final residence in Burleson.

Beyond many years as a homemaker, her career spanned from working as a hostess and trusted money handler in Biloxi Mississippi in 1959 where Ernest Hemingway once tipped her $100 at Sun & Sand Hotel after working at Sanger Brothers First clothing outlet in Dallas where she worked to become a buyer. Later she was employed in secretarial and administrative planning on satellites for Martin Marietta, with Time Warner as a Executive Secretary to legal secretarial to floral and later clothing / houseware retail sales with J.C. Penney’s and Dress Barn prior to her retirement in 2008. Carolynn most enjoyed square dancing, sewing, gardening, music, English breakfasts and Teas, baking, traveling, and visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by her brother Jerry R. Jones, sister in law Karen, former husband Harlon Wells, three children; son Gavin Wells and his wife Ruth in Bath, England, son Gordon Wells, his wife Gabriela, and Carolynn’s two granddaughters Karen and Sandra all in Barcelona, Spain and daughter Lori Jelle and her husband Eric in Burleson.

Visitation will be from 11:00am-12:30pm, Tuesday, December 3, 2018 at Foust and Son Funeral Home.

Burial will be 2:00pm at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, TX.
