Jerry Wilson McVey

Jerry entered into eternal rest after a life marked by service, love and camaraderie.

Born into the family of Woodrow Wilson McVey and RubyNell Cheatham McVey, Jerry grew up to be a man of great character and warmth. His commitment to his country was evident through his honorable service in the United States Navy from June 1964 to March 1968. During his tenure, Jerry was stationed aboard the USS Saint Paul and valiantly completed three tours in Vietnam. His dedication earned him a National Defense Service medal and a Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars.

Jerry's life was not solely defined by his military achievements; he was also a master of the fairways. His prowess in golf was well-known at Stephens Golf Club in Oak Cliff, Texas, where he spent many hours perfecting his game. His participation in numerous Texas golf tournaments resulted in victories that were a testament to his skill and sportsmanship.

In the kitchen, Jerry expressed his love through culinary creations, always eager to share a meal with family and friends. His recipes and gatherings will be remembered fondly by those who were fortunate to partake in them.

His devotion to his family was unwavering. Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda Kubicek Mcvey; his son, Christopher Patrick McVey and son-in-law Chris Michael Neumann; his brother, James McVey; and his cherished grandsons, Holden and Harrison Traylor. He is reunited in the Kingdom of Heaven with his daughter, Tammy Michelle McVey; his sisters, Nancy Ramsey and Kathy Perrigo; and his parents.

The McVey family invites relatives and friends to join them in a solemn ceremony at DFW National Cemetery, where Jerry's life and legacy will be commemorated with the honor he so richly deserves.

Jerry's gentle spirit and generous heart have touched many lives. Though he will be greatly missed, his memory will endure through the love he shared and the lives he impacted.
