Charles R. “Dick” Crews passed away October 23, 2014. Born in Grapevine, Texas on June 3, 1935 to Nell Fields Crews and George Corbin Crews Sr., he was descended from two pioneer families that came just before the civil war to the Grapevine prairie, just east of Grapevine. This site is now the north entrance of the DFW International airport. He attended the Grapevine public schools and enrolled in Texas A & M University in 1952. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, where he obtained the rank of Lt. Colonel, and Commanded the 6th Group, including Squadrons 16, 17, & 18. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the United States Air Force in 1956. After the Air Force he returned to the I.B.M. Corp. where he served in Data Processing sales and management. He later formed the Commercial Real Estate Company of Crews Lorimer & Associates with his good friend & partner James B. Lorimer. Dick met the love of his life Becky Lou Broyles from Longview, Texas on a blind date at a Texas A & M football game on November 14, 1954 and they were married June 22, 1957. Dick & Becky were members of Ridgeview Presbyterian Church, & Grace Bible Church in Dallas where Dick served as Elder. Dick was also a founding Elder of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco. He was also a member of the Board of Trusties at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, where he served 12 years, & Chairman three years. He was a family man (a “Big Daddy”), a devout Christian, and a Texan through-and-through, with a charm and charisma that endeared him to many. He has been an inspiration to all that crossed his path, especially during his journey through cancer. He approached life with his signature combination of humor and wisdom. He is survived by: his wife of 57 years Becky Lou Broyles Crews; sister Mazie Crews Eden of Euless, Texas; his son Charles Richard (Rik) Crews II, and his wife Kellie Chako Crews of Frisco, Texas; son Corbin William Crews and his wife Katie Freeman Crews of Highland Park, Texas; daughter Jennifer Crews Angle and husband Timothy Ramsay Angle of Como, MS; and daughter Christen Rebecca Crews of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by: 12 Grandchildren, Whitney Crews Hinton, Hattiesburg, MS, Caroline Crews Angle, Leiden, Netherlands, Charles Richard Crews III(CR) Houston, TX, Dutch Crews, Houston, TX, Cody Crews, Clay Crews of Highland Park, Tx, Noah Scheevel of Dallas, Frank Crews, Jake Crews, both of Frisco, TX, Sam Scheevel and Andrew Scheevel both of Dallas, and Evelyn Elizabeth Angle of Como, MS; two great-grandsons Cole and Crews Hinton of Hattiesburg, MS; sister in law and brother in law Dr. Lacy and Edie Williams of Shreveport, LA, and sister in law Janet Crews of Grapevine, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Stonebriar Community Church, Frisco, TX from 5:30-7:30 PM, Graveside service Tuesday, October 28, 9:30 am, at Grapevine Cemetery, Grapevine, Tx followed at 2:00 pm with a Memorial Service at Stonebriar Community Church.
