Barbara Ann Moss Rich, 78, a whirlwind of fun and laughter and love, passed away November 19, 2022 in Euless, Texas after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease (she was not giving up without a fight!). Barbara was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on October 28, 1944, the second child of John “Pete” Moss and Evelyn Butler Moss. After graduating in 1962 from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Barbara moved to Houston, Texas where her father was working for Exxon. While living in Houston (and getting into a bit of mischief with her best friend, Marilyn), Barbara met the love of her life. She married James David Rich on April 21, 1967, and the adventure began! Barbara’s life of service to family supported Jim’s life of service to country. While Jim fought in Viet Nam, guarded presidents and dignitaries with the Secret Service, and led teams in corporate security and TSA, Barbara made sure their two sons had the most loving and fun home. The Rich family took great trips to Rome, Italy to visit Barbara’s brother, but they also found adventure in everyday outings. Their home was filled with laughter and love (and dogs, and even the occasional cat), with Barbara serving as the ringleader and mistress of ceremonies. Jim would roll his eyes as he carefully rocked in his chair, but the grin on his face gave away his true feelings of love and appreciation for the fun-loving woman he married and the wonderful family she gave him.
As her sons grew, Barbara decided to share her talents with the good people at two schools in Arlington. She started working at Wood Elementary in the mid-1980s and retired from Miller Elementary in May of 2011. After retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed her monthly lunches with her fellow retirees, The Miller Madams. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John C. Moss of Rome, Italy, and her beloved Jim. Left to share Barbara’s legacy of laughter and love are her children, Jason and Michelle Rich of Euless, Texas, and Adam and Abby Rich of Ovilla, Texas, along with her grandchildren, Grayson, Max, and Ella, and countless friends who Barbara made feel like family. Her family would like to thank all of Barbara’s caregivers at Silver Leaf in Euless, Atria in Grapevine, Visiting Angels, and Hospice Plus. A memorial service for Barbara is set for Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 10:00am, at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Directors, 523 South Main Street in Grapevine, Texas.
