February 18, 1924 - March 14, 2019
Tommy Olsen went to be with his Lord Jesus on March 14, 2019 at age 95.
Tommy was born on February 18, 1924 in LaTouche, Alaska. Raised in Fairbanks and skiing to school, he became an Alaska ski jump champion as a young man. In 1943, Tommy was assigned to the 13th Weather Squadron, providing weather observations and forecasts for military aircraft. After several years working in the radio business, he moved to Grants Pass in 1956 where he went to work as a radio announcer. In 1963 he started work as an insurance agent for Allstate, working there until he retired. Tommy greatly enjoyed skiing, rafting on the Rogue, playing pool, jazz music, hymns, ballroom dancing, travel and telling his life stories.
He is survived by daughters Gwen Shattock and Karen Forsyth. His daughters and three grandchildren greatly miss his loving heart and encouragement. He was buried at Eagle Point National Cemetery, but is having a good time in heaven!
Memorial service will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 3:30 pm, St Peter's Lutheran Church in Medford, Oregon.
