his mother divorced and married Joseph Hyzer. Bob grew to love him very much and considered him his dad.
Bob left home at the age of 14 and hitchhiked around the country working various jobs. He returned to Grants
Pass and worked a few different jobs during his young adulthood. At one point in his life he owned a service
station in Grants Pass and a Dairy Queen that was located across from Steiger on 6th Street. In 1962 he was
hired on as a reserve for the Grants Pass City Police department. Later they hired him on full time as a
patrolman and he went on up through the ranks and retired after 30 years of service from the police
department in 1992. He absolutely loved being a policeman. It was his passion.
In the early part of his adult life he married Doris Perkins, they had a daughter named Brenda. They divorced a
short time after Brenda was born. In 1958 he married Wanda Dunn. Together they had a daughter, Teresa
Louise and a son Joseph Duane. After 14 years the marriage dissolved. In 1974 Bob married Dawn Marie
Alimossy. During their marriage they loved to travel and garden and work around the property, but most of all
he loved his dogs. They were such a big part of his life. He also enjoyed cutting and splitting wood. He found a
love for bicycling. He did a number of century rides and some races such as the triple challenge. It was nothing
for him to go for a 100 mile joy ride.
