Millard Lemoin Marsh, 87, returned to the arms of God on October 4, 2023, in Grants Pass. Millard was born on June 24, 1936 in Dellvale, Kansas. He moved with his parents and siblings to Bend, Oregon, in April 1937 and graduated from Bend High School in 1954 as president of his senior class. In 1958, Millard graduated from Southern Oregon College (now SOU) with a degree in secondary education. He taught two years at Triangle Lake High School in Lane County. During that time, he and Emilie Nandie were married. They moved to Eugene and Millard earned a master's degree in education from the University of Oregon. He then got a job teaching science at Colin Kelly Middle School and worked there for more than five years. Millard then moved to Grants Pass and began teaching and coaching at South Middle School over the next 28 years. During that time, three children -- Sam, Tony and Maria -- were born. Following a divorce, Millard married fellow South teacher Vicki Graves and they were together for 38 wonderful years. Vicki's two daughters -- Barb and Kathy -- also joined the new blended family. Millard retired from teaching in 1994 and volunteering in the community became his life. He and Vicki worked in the FISH Food Bank for many years. He was a founding member of Grants Pass Habitat for Humanity and joined the Grants Pass Lions Club. He was an active member of Newman United Methodist Church where he served on the board of directors, sang in the choir and was the unofficial groundskeeper. Millard played golf every Monday morning and maintained his active lifestyle until the very end. He was preceded in death by his mother Katherine, father Paul, stepmother Mary Alice, sister Delma and brother Ron. He is survived by his sister Pauline Ylvisaker, five children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren -- all of whom are very proud of the life this man led. Millard was laid to rest with Vicki at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
