Wilmetta was preceded in death by her husband, William Bok; parents Art and Rena DeVries; brother, Arlan DeVries; and brother and sister-in-law Peter (Bonnie) DeVries. She is survived by her five children and their spouses Joyce (Bob) Gates, Marcia (Steve) Call, Allen (Hannah) Bok, Sandy (John) Bedard, Karen (Jeff) Haisma; 12 grandchildren Tamara (Anthony), Tara (Charles), Steve (Tammy), Danica, Joshua (Marcia), Dakota (Brooke), Fantasia, Nicole, Lauren, Andrew (fiancée, Rachel), Austin, and Farrah; plus 17 great-grandchildren with two more coming soon; siblings Ruby Doornbos, Herb (Dolores) DeVries, Carolyn (Ron) Paige; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Meta loved the Lord, and she knew He held her in his mighty hand all the days of her life. Her gentleness and love were experienced by anyone who knew her, and she was always eager to meet new people and tell them fun stories of her life. Meta and her husband, Bill, were community members at Sandy Pines for 27 years where they enjoyed weekend picnics, coffee kletzes, and ice cream. Detroit Tigers baseball was her passion for decades.
In honor of Wilmetta and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church. A private family ceremony and interment will be held at Kent Memorial Gardens, and a celebration of life will be planned for a later date. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
