On Monday, November 9, 2020, Spc. Travis Jay Campbell passed away unexpectedly due to complications of COVID-19. Travis was born on March 9, 1985 to parents Tom and Kim Campbell. Travis served with the 303rd Military Police company, and was deployed to Iraq with the Wolfhounds 2nd battalion 27th infantry Regiment. Travis left the military after 12 years of service and he received many awards. He graduated from the military police academy at Grand Valley State University. Travis served as a volunteer at the John Ball Zoo, he enjoyed hiking, animals of all kinds, shooting guns, and sharing his passion of guns and gun safety with others. He also loved riding his motorcycle.
Although he loved all these things his greatest passion and love was his daughter, Ellie. Travis is survived by his parents Thomas Jay Campbell and Kimberly Ann Barr Campbell; grandmother, Jean Barr Harrigan; sisters Lynnea (David) Strout and Jessie (Kevin) Watt; former wife, Joanna Campbell; daughters Kayla Marie and Elizabeth Cay; nieces and nephew Noah, Brianna, Emma, and Alexia; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Travis was preceded in death by his sister, Brittany Jean Campbell; paternal grandparents Richard and Lovelle Campbell; maternal grandfather, Gene Barr; and uncles Ricky, Charles (Bink), and Sonny Dewayne.
Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St. SW, Byron Center, with a time to greet family from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the go-fund-me page set up in his honor.
