To all of Scott's family,
 The last time I saw Scott was at his uncle Bob Van Dyk's funeral a couple of years ago. My son is Collin Van Dyk, a grandson to Bob. Collin's father (and my first husband) Michael was a cousin to Scott.
 That said, I have many fond memories of Scott beginning about 40 years ago. Scott was always such a nice and happy guy. I can still hear his hearty laugh! Lori Van Dyk (my best friend) and I enjoyed spending time with Scott and I can remember at least a time or two that he gave us rides in his cool car:)
 I was so very sorry to hear of Scott's passing. I'm keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers at this sad and difficult time.

Cheryl,Sam,& Sid. our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are so very sorry for the loss of a great husband & father. Scott had one of the greatest personality. he always had a very big smile when he came in to see you and a big hi di how are you doing? when ever he saw me. To all the family members; I am so sorry for our loss. Scott was so young and God must have had a big need to take him at such an early age.
 Growing up with him was a fun time for me. He was full of mischief and very adventurous. He loved to drive fast on this toys, which he had many. 
 I did not get the opportunity to see him since my Mum and Dad died, but I did think of him often, and we did get the chance to talk the last time we ran into each other. 
 He was very proud of his children and we laughed about how he was still married and I had been the one that kept doing it over and over.
 I am sorry that I will not be in the US to come to the funeral, but my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

From the time he started GED preparation in June, until his absence last week, Scott VanDyk made his presence felt in the classroom. He did this in a calm, quiet way. He was always good-natured and pleasant to have around. He was always grateful for any help I gave him. The students were happy to be with him both in class and during breaks.
 Perhaps his absence from class last week was God's way of preparing us for this sudden, shocking, and sad loss. God's will be done!
 Know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers now and in the days ahead as Scott lives on in his new life and in our memories.

I had the pleasure of meeting Scott in early June 2012. He was enthused about the GED Program; he was so excited about enrolling In CDL training. Scott was a very charismatic person.
