He was born on February 6, 1945 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Bernice and John Peterson. Roger graduated from Union High School. He retired from Grand Rapids Spring and Stamping as a die maker. Roger loved being active with many pastimes. He loved golfing, boating, bowling, coaching softball, riding his Harley, or cruising around in his car. He loved watching sports and was an avid lifetime fan of the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings. Most of all, he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents Bernice Peterson and John (Jeanette) Peterson; brothers Larry and Richard Sr.; sisters Dorothy, Pauline, and Eleanor. He is survived by his wife, Janice Peterson; five daughters Kim Weadock, Lori (Roberto) Mendez, Christy Bliss, Jennifer Genter, Rebecca (Matt) Tol; son, Jonathan Peterson; grandchildren Bri, Maddie, Mackenzie, Madilyn (Drew), Logan, Katelyn, Alise; great-grandchildren Ashtyn, Naomi, Garrett, and Daisy; sister, Marlene Nash; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Roger proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He will be dearly missed by all his loved ones. His smile and laughter would fill a room.
Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), with visitation from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to service.
