Richard Malcolm Graeff, age 94, went to be with his Lord Friday, September 29, 2023. Richard (best known as Dick) was preceded in death by his parents Malcolm and Mary Graeff and son, David Richard Graeff. He will be remembered by his wife, Barbara Graeff; son, Gary (Kim) Graeff; four grandchildren Carrie, Justin, Alexander, and Elle; two great-grandchildren Archer and Jonah; and many friends.
Dick dedicated his life to education - not only his own education, but that of the students he taught as a sixth grade teacher in many districts, and ultimately all his students as the principal of Marquette Elementary School in Muskegon. He also instilled the value of education in his own children by his daily words and actions. He was always known for his grace, kindness, generosity, and his unwavering patience. He also had a dry, sarcastic wit that he carried with him to his last days.
A private family celebration of Dick’s life will commence at date and time to be determined. In honor of Dick and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
