Michael Scott Simonson, age 75, went to be with his Lord Thursday, March 16, 2023. Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Simonson; parents Kenneth and Margaret Simonson. He will be remembered by his daughters Amy Simonson and Karri (Jason) Bartram; grandchildren Taylor, Madeline, and Jacob; and many friends.
Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Over the summers, Mike worked at Maple Hill Golf Course for 30 plus years. He touched so many lives through teaching special education, coaching, working at the junior golf league, teaching future educators at GVSU as a professor. He was the best father and Papa Mikey to his daughters and grandchildren! He took us on so many family vacations and was always there for us. Mike was the hardest worker, most intelligent, kind, and loving person you will ever meet. He was our HERO. His passions were U of M football, basketball, golf, and family.
A private family Celebration of Mike’s Life will take place at a time and date to be determined. In honor of Mike and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.
