Mary was a wonderful woman! I knew her through Woodward Baptist and of course her daughter Bonnie. Whenever I saw Mary she had a smile on her face. You could see the light of Christ in her at all times. Mary have fun in Heaven!!

Growing up, I don't remember you talking about love or family very often, but you sure as hell lived it. 

When my mom was faced with raising two kids essentially on her own, you and grandpa walked alongside her to help raise us. But it wasn't just you. It was everyone. You showed us what it meant to go through the good and the bad with each other. To be a family together. So Deven and I didn't just have a mom and grandparents, we had aunts and uncles, too. And I know it's because you have built your family to be one that is full of love, a whole lot of laughter, and space for everyone. 

You've always made your home a safe space. It's where we celebrated birthdays and holidays, but it's also where we all spent time talking, playing, and just being. It's where I would spent weeks at a time when home was too heavy for me. Where you would call down to ask if I needed a study break, and even if I said no you'd be there in 5 minutes with a snack and a hug to tell me I was going to do great on whatever test I was studying for. 

Where, for most of 2015, I spent Wednesday mornings sipping coffee with you and Grandpa before driving to work. 

Where, since I moved away, you have always told me that the spare room was ready when I came home to visit. 

Where you welcomed all of us--this rambunctious, chaotic, growing, rag-tag group of Berg's, Brotts, and Halls--to celebrate, grieve, grow up, and just be.

Thank you for being you. For loving all of us. And for being the calm center to this beautiful family that you have built. I'm sad that my kids won't get to know you in this life, but I promise to tell them about how lovely, beautiful, and amazing you were. Are. Because you're not done here. This family is still growing. And I can only hope that we continue to love each other and walk alongside each other, as you have taught us.

Mary and Bob were just like my parents for years. They let me live with them for the summer between years of college. I have been friends with the family, especially Pam and Bonnie, since I  believe 1978. I mareiwd and moved away and lost touch with them and then every so often touch base again. It was like I never left Michigan. They have always accepted me back and have accepted my husband as well. Mary will be so missed, especially her smile! I know she is in no more pain, but it hurts my heart knowing she won't be around when I come home and visit. Mary, you and tour smile will truly be missed!

Mary was more of a sister than a sister-in-law to us.  We have had many great times traveling the world with her and Bob.  Her love was always easy to see and feel and her wonderful laugh brought joy to all who experienced it.  Like the entire Berg Family, we will miss her greatly.  It is comforting to know how greatly we have been blessed by having her as such a great part of our lives.  It's even a greater comfort to know that Mary now can share her laughter with Jesus, her Lord & Savior.

She and Bob have become more like parents to me than my own parents! And her daughter is one of my best friends. I always loved giving her flowers for my flower ministry, and have almost all the handmade cards she gave me over the years, as well as a crotchet soap dispenser cover she made me for my birthday recently. She was a smiling bright light at church and was always a true example of positivity and strong faith even while she battled cancer. Will love and miss you forever, “Mom”! Thanks for all you did for me and my family over the years I’ve known you! :two_hearts: Rest In Peace until we see you again, one sweet day!
