She is survived by her husband of 61 years Robert J. Mathews and her three children, Craig R. and wife Jackie, Thomas J. Sr. and wife Linda and daughter Mary Louise Mathews. Also surviving are two grandsons, Thomas J. Jr. and wife Dawn and Ryan M. Mathews; two step-grand daughters Dana Appel and Kelly Hodeman; sister-in-law Nell Nitz; brother-in-law Charles J. Mathews and wife Ardean as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents George E. Sr. and Martha Nitz, brothers George E. Nitz Jr. and wife Eleanor and Harold J. Nitz; brother-in-law William E. Mathews and wife Virginia.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at both Cambridge and Georgetown Manors and Spectrum Health Hospice for their compassion and caring.
Cremation has taken place with a private family burial at Grandville Cemetery.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. east building.
