Katherine Geraldine Cross

Katherine "Kay" Cross, age 98, went to be with her Lord Sunday, September 13, 2020. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Cross; husband, Norris Cross; brothers John (Beulah) Dykema, Robert (Helen)Dykema, Andy (Virginia) Dykema; sisters Helen (Max) Rogalla, Dorothy (Fred) Wierengo, and Sarah (Dan) Koepke. Kay will be lovingly remembered by her brother, David (Floy Ann) Dykema; children Kerry (Dennis) Dalton, John (Jo) Cross, Casey Cross; grandchildren Dane Dalton, Kacy Dalton, Kaylee Cross, Kobe Cross, Hillary Hopkins, Jonathan (Kellie)Cross, Ryan Cross; and great-grandchild, Owen Cross.

Kay was a loving mother and wife, creating a wonderful home environment for her family. At a young age, she was taught the love of gardening by her father. This established her lifelong pleasure of coaxing colorful blossoms out of the bare earth, and provided enjoyment for all those who passed by her dazzling displays of backyard beauty.

After assuring that all her children had opportunities for college education, she realized her own dream of higher education and graduated, at the age of 57, with a BA from Aquinas College. She then began a career teaching English (ESL) in the Greater Grand Rapids School System.

Because of these trying times, memorial services will be delayed until we may more safely meet in large numbers to celebrate her life. Her urn will be interred beside her late husband, Norris, at Arlington Hill Cemetery in Bangor, Michigan. In honor of Kay, contributions may be made to Grandville United Methodist Church.
