John Martin Visser, age 92, peacefully passed away into the waiting arms of his Savior Friday, March 17, 2023. John was preceded in death by his spouse, Barbara (Blok) Visser; parents John and Jacoba Visser; siblings Henry and Bernice Visser, Wilbur and Nellie Visser, Albert and Harriet Visser-Bolhuis, James Visser, Cornelia Visser Brouwer, Dick Visser, Lydia Mae Visser-Kamps. He will be remembered by his children Joanne (Don) Kamps, Eleanor (Roger) Vander Klok, Karen Kinnamont (Randy Stewart), Mark (Anne) Visser, Barbara Visser-Dorwin, and Dr. Thomas (Sandra) Visser; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings Elmer Visser and Margaret Visser Sinnema; in-laws Hermina Visser, John Kamps; multiple loving in-laws; many nieces, nephews and friends.
In spite of numerous life challenges he needed to overcome, John was a volunteer chaplain for over 40 years for Forgotten Man Ministries at Kent County jail and work-release division. He was a volunteer for Grandville Little League and Sunday school superintendent. He also spent time with numerous projects to help others with their lives.
A memorial celebration of John’s life will commence at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Harvest Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Wyoming, MI. In honor of John and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Forgotten Man Ministries or Guiding Light. Interment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park.
