John Van Ess Jr., age 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 14, 2021. John was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Van Ess; and parents John and Nellie Van Ess Sr. He will be remembered by his children Pamela Nederveld, Ginger Eardley, Carole (Randy) Randolph, Christine (Terry) TerBeek, and Michael Van Ess; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
John proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.
Visitation with relatives and friends will take place on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. When in attendance, we kindly ask that all guests wear a face covering and practice social distancing for their safety and the well-being of the family. Although everyone is welcome to visit, current Health Department restrictions limit attendance to the funeral home to 25 guests at a time. Please be mindful of other guests wishing to pay their respects. A private family funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation.
