John L. Fletcher

John L. Fletcher, age 72, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; father, Russell Fletcher; mother, Evelyn (VanEs) Fletcher; brother, James; brother-in-law, Larry; and many beloved dogs. He is survived by daughter, Melissa Wiltjer; dog, Taco; sisters Dawn (Ken) Downing, Kathleen (Gary) Kersting, and Sharon Stirdivant; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was known for his storytelling abilities and was always willing to talk to you about his thoughts on aliens, golf, his childhood, his dog, or any other topic that may come up. He was a well-known handyman who loved to spend time working on cars, lawn mowers, snowblowers, or whatever he could get his hands on in what his wife dubbed “John’s Almost Fixit Shop." He loved living a simple life and his ideal day was grabbing some breakfast at Subway, McDonalds, or the local donut shop, and buying some scratch off tickets. Then he would go home to take his dog for a walk, and then spend the day watching a few favorite shows and work on his next project out in the shed.

A Casual Celebration of Life in the style of John will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Southwood Village Clubhouse (6115 Minosa Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49548).
