Janice Feaster, age 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 6, 2020. She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Schrotenboer and daughter-in-law, Angie Schrotenboer. She is survived by her children Mike (Jill) Schrotenboer and Lynette (Phil) Payne; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings Karen Mahan and Mary Lynn Hazel; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jan was the eldest of three daughters and a wonderful mother of three. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and after graduating from Central Michigan University became an elementary school teacher, where she spent the majority of her teaching years at Kelloggsville and Midland Public Schools. Having taught for over 35 years, Jan was a teacher to thousands. Before and after retirement she was often recognized by both parents and previous students who were so thankful for the impression that she had left on them. She would go on to be a teacher forever, educating and providing insight when and where needed.
Jan enjoyed family and friends, cooking (enough for all and then some), reading, playing piano, shopping, and the beauty of Pure Michigan (Silver Lake, Ludington, Frankfort, and Traverse City to mention a few) and the activities that these communities offered. Jan remained active in life until health issues limited her mobility, at which time she resided at Byron Center Assisted Living where she received wonderful care and made many new friendships. Jan will be remembered by the kindness she extended to people, her generosity, her excellent sense of humor, her feisty spirit as well as her ability to be present and listen to others. She will be dearly missed by all.
