He was preceded in death by his grandson Bob Smit and granddaughter Linda Wiltjer.

Surviving are his wife of 71 years Effie; children, John Rose Smit, Henrietta John Wiltjer, Len Leonora Smit, Kenneth Mary Smit; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. John F. Kaufield officiating at the Cook Memorial Chapel 4235 Prairie St. SW - east building.

The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville west building and Thursday 1 to 1:45 p.m. in the chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Radio Bible Class or Children’s Bible Hour.
