Douglas John Van Orden

Douglas John Van Orden, age 73, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Doug was preceded in death by his Wife, Gloria Van Orden; parents Earl and Margaret Van Orden. He will be remembered by his brothers Gene Van Orden and Richard Van Orden; children Scott (Sandi) Van Orden, Stacie (Reece)Robins, Carrie (Paul) Evans, and Mike (Jenny) Van Orden; grandchildren Casey, Kelsey, Joseph, Seth, Ethan, Jacob, Hunter, Jenna, and Skyler; and great-grandchildren Oakleigh and Haisley.

Doug served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves for 25 years, and worked for Kent County Road Commission for 40 years. His passion for traveling and sailing presented some memorable family adventures over the years. He enjoyed collecting model trains, bird watching and spending time with his dog, Max.

A memorial visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. When in attendance, we kindly ask that all non-vaccinated guests wear a face covering and practice social distancing for their safety and well-being of the family. In honor of Doug and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "Homes For Our Troops." Interment will be at Allendale Cemetery.
