Douglas Scott Wieringa age 64, loving husband and father, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, March 1, 2020, after a ten-year battle with a rare form of dementia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joan Wieringa; father-in-law, Melvin Visser.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 40 years, Melinda Wieringa; children Gwen (Ben) Kloosterman, Aaron (Kari) Wieringa, Kelly (Katlyn) Wieringa; 10 grandchildren Violet, Sylvia, Vivian, and Preston Kloosterman, Cohen, Landen, and Maika Wieringa, Emerson, Aletta, and Eva Wieringa; siblings Lavonne (Daryll DeGraaf) Wieringa, Lynn (Bill) McInnis, Rick (Ronda) Wieringa, Cheryl (Ron) Blouw; mother-in-law, Mae Visser; in-laws, Mic (Steve) Jurgens, Mitch (Lynn) Visser, Mike Visser; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Doug was born and raised in the Hudsonville area. He started working at Fairlanes Bowling Alley in Grandville and later worked at Grand Die Engravers for more than 30 years. Doug enjoyed many years at Payne Lake with family and friends waterskiing and barefooting. Doug was an active member at Hudsonville Reformed Church while raising his family. He enjoyed spending time with all ten of his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Byron Center Manor for their loving care over the past two months.
Visitation with relatives and friends will be held from 2-4PM and 6-8PM, Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St, Byron Center.
Memorial Services will be held at 7PM, Monday, March 9, 2020 with visitation one hour prior, at Providence Christian Reformed Church, 7730 Eastern Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. Pastor Jeremy Visser will be officiating.
