Donald Robert Creswell, age 96, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Dorothy Creswell; son, Terry Creswell; first wife, Jane Marie Creswell (nee Buffinga); stepdaughter, Laura Klawieter; and stepgrandson, James Lobbezoo. He will be remembered by his wife of 22 years, Joyce Creswell; brother, Bob Creswell; children Richard (Judy) Creswell, Timothy (Deborah) Creswell, Ron (Kathryn) Creswell, Randy (Cathy) Creswell, and William (Paula) Creswell; and stepchildren Robert (Kathy) Klawieter, Susan (Thomas) Lobbezoo, and Janice (Douglas) Kolehouse; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Donald served his country in the Army and served his community as a policeman, living out the title “peace officer” with justice and mercy. He was a faithful member of Calvary Church and later, Grandville Bible Church and served many churches as the “singing cop.” He retired early so he could help teach skills in Mali, West Africa and invested his life in people wherever he could. He loved Jesus, sailing, and the Les Cheneaux Islands.
A memorial celebration of Donald’s life will commence 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, with visitation one hour prior, at the Cook Memorial Chapel 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418 (East Building). Pastor Doug Wood will be officiating. In honor of Donald and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spectrum Hospice. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
