He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Sikkema; parents John and Hattie Sikkema; siblings Ken Sikkema, John Sikkema, Hank (Mary) Sikkema, Pete Sikkema, Ann Klifman; sister-in-law, Lila Sikkema; grandson, Christopher Buiter. He is survived by children Barb Sikkema, Linda (John) Buiter, Brian (Denise) Sikkema, Cindy (Bruce) DeBoer, Terry (Kay) Sikkema; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings Andy (Sharon) Sikkema, Ron Sikkema, Aleida (Charlie) Burkholder, Arla (Ken) Roede; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Bud proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He worked for General Motors for 36 years. He went to MSU before being called into service for his country. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, hunting, and fishing.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Winchester Cemetery, with visitation from 10:30-11 a.m. prior to service. There will be limited seating at the service so please consider bringing a lawn chair.
In honor of Bud and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Christian Reformed Church of Byron Center or Byron Center Christian Schools.
