Charles Blake

Charles Blake, age 86, passed away peacefully Friday, March 4, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Russell Blake and Martha Lucetta Blake; and sister, Lois (Bob) Higley. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn Blake; children Russell (Tammy) Blake, Patrick (Kim) Blake, Cathy (Steven) Berden, Nancy (James) Carson; brother, Richard (Yvonne) Blake; grandchildren Brooke (Tyler) Skinner, Patrick (Jessica) Blake, Autumn (Josh) Groelsma, Amber (Hayden) Gort, Hayley Jo Carson; great-grandchildren Jesa, Brady, Aubrie, Jordy, Inoa, Imrie, and Zoey; step-grandchildren Alex and Jason; hunting buddies Russ, Pat, Fudd, Richard, Tom, Bill; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pat was an amazing man of integrity who loved his family more than his own life. His grandkids and great-grandkids made him smile with pleasure even as late as last week. He had a cheerful, friendly attitude that made him many, many friends over the years. He was a steady, loving person - always ready to help wherever he was needed. Pat was a dedicated hunter and fisherman. He was always happy to be at deer camp or fishing with his family and best buddies. Next to his family, he loved his home and took great pleasure in digging, dozing, and decorating his property. Pat was an avid softball player, and was proud to play pitcher and catcher on several teams during his work years, including church and city leagues - usually taking the trophy. Pat was a die setter for GM for 38 years.

The family would like to thank Pastor Dan, his hospice Chaplin, who led Pat to a much deeper relationship with Jesus. As a result of that, Pat made it his ministry to give study Bibles to people who didn’t have a Bible. We praise God for Dad’s life and for his peaceful passing while doing what he loved.

Visitation with Charles’ family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home (West building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 with visitation beginning 12 p.m. at Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville.
