Cathy was born to John and Alice Flaherty on December 31, 1956 in Chicago, IL. She was raised by them, in life and in faith, with her sister, Jeanine, in Park Ridge, IL. She graduated from Taylor University in 1979, where she met the love of her life and husband, Mark Maxwell. Together with Mark, she spent her life in service to her church and raising their family. Cathy found her utmost joy in her family and being her husband's and children's biggest fan in all of their endeavors. She loved spending time in God's creation, especially at Harper Lake, Ml, having a deep appreciation for the simple beauties of this world. She was a faithful member of Jenison Bible Church, spending many years teaching and encouraging children, passing on her love of the Lord through church nursery and Sunday school, and serving in children's leadership with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for over 20 years.
She is experiencing a joyous reunion with those who have preceded her in death: her parents John and Alice Flaherty; mother and father-in-law Keith and Helen Maxwell; and brothers-in-law Jim Isham and Doug Peterson. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Mark Maxwell; five children whom she loved beyond measure John (Kelsey) Maxwell, Carly Siderits, Alex (Samantha) Maxwell, Jill Maxwell (Ryan Marlink), and Adam Maxwell; as well as four grandchildren who lit up her life Shaely and Jacob Siderits, Harper Maxwell, and Nolan Maxwell. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Jeanine Isham; sisters and brothers by marriage and love Nancy (Jim) Woodwyk, Susan Kirsch, Mary Peterson, Molly Maxwell (Kathy Crouch); and many nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart.
Cathy's legacy will always be filled with memories of her love and abounding service for those around her, with gentle reminders to "take care of one another" and "God is good, all the time."
