Today we say a temporary goodbye to Carl Lee Watters. While he is absent from his body, he is now present with his Lord and Savior, breathing the air of Heaven and walking the streets of gold. Carl was born August 4, 1948 to LeRoy and Virginia Watters. After a short battle with cancer, Carl was ushered into glory April 5, 2025, the one year anniversary of the death of his sweetheart, Sue. Carl was a servant. He loved serving in his church. Through the years, he served as Sunday school superintendent, Awana commander and Awana game coordinator. He served on the AV team, and managed the food pantry. He served for many years with the Gospel Music Barn, helping out in various capacities. He was also a member of the BCM board.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne; parents LeRoy and Virginia; and two siblings Carol Hochstetler and Nancy Dirian. Carl has nine living siblings Rose (Al) Robertson of Howell, Michigan, Edna Tamlyn of Portland, Michigan, Evelyn Sandersfield of Hale, Michigan, Cheryl (Bill) Palmer of Owosso, Michigan, Bonnie Jackson of Hale, Michigan, Pamela Daniels of Howell, Michigan, Peggy (Scott) Shoemaker of Howell, Michigan, Denise (Joe) Miner of Zeeland, Michigan, Susan Watters of Howell, Michigan. He is also survived by his three children Michael Watters of Grandville, Michigan, David (Robin) Watters missionaries to Papua, New Guinea, and Ginger (Stephen) Jordan, missionaries to the Philippines. He has eight grandchildren Andrew (Emily) Watters, Rebekah Jordan, Hannah (Noah) Kay, Abigail Jordan, Caleb (Emily) Watters, Bobby Watters, Luke Jordan, and Jonathan Jordan. He has five great-grandchildren Grace Watters, Bradley Kay, Levi Watters, Aleena Kay, and Selah Kay.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life, well-lived in service to his King, at Grandville Bible Church, 1 p.m. Friday April 18, 2025. There will be a time of fellowship following the service. in lieu of flowers and in memory of Carl, contributions may be made to Gospel Music Barn, 620 Oakleigh Ave. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
